Abstract<\/strong>\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n

Gardin\u2019s research that aimed to establish analogies and relations among objects\u2019 descriptive features in archeology led him to develop criteria that laid the foundations for automatic classification in the late 1950s and early 1960s, pursuing an intended goal: documentation. For Gardin, human intellectual work should be explicitly and formally based on classifications which are necessary for machines to manipulate data (calculus) and create conditions to make inferences via correlations and association of information. One of Gardin\u2019s main goals was to make this process \u201cscientific\u201d through repeatability which would also make it assessable. Apparently, the aspect of Gardin\u2019s works that resembles documentation the most is his exploration of Documentary Analysis (publications in the 1960s and 1970s). However, this is just a superficial impression. He returned later to further exploration of the representation of reasoning, publishing the works that nowadays can be related to the development of the semantic web and the ontologies, also important for documentation and information science. We emphasize his contributions and show how they relate to the process of synthesis (documentary analysis – DA) and its respective tool (metalanguage \u2013 ML) to end withsome conclusions about his projects of logicist schematization. Finally, we briefly discuss his proposal of reorganizing scientific publications.<\/p>\n

R\u00e9sum\u00e9 <\/strong><\/p>\n

La recherche de Gardin pour \u00e9tablir des analogies et des relations entre traits descriptifs d\u2019objets arch\u00e9ologiques l\u2019amena \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper – \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es 50 et d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 60 \u2013 des crit\u00e8res qui sont \u00e0 la base de la classification automatique dans le cadre de la documentation. Pour Gardin, le travail intellectuel devrait \u00eatre fond\u00e9 sur des processus de classification explicites et formels, pour que la machine puisse manipuler les donn\u00e9es (le calcul) et cr\u00e9er des conditions pour \u00e9tablir des corr\u00e9lations et des associations d\u2019information. Un de ses buts principaux \u00e9tait d\u2019orienter le processus de calcul scientifiquement et donc de pouvoir le r\u00e9p\u00e9ter et l\u2019\u00e9valuer. Apparemment, l\u2019aspect du travail de Gardin qui se trouve le plus proche de la documentation r\u00e9side dans ses \u00e9crits sur l\u2019Analyse Documentaire, produits entre les ann\u00e9es 60 et 70. Cependant, cette impression est superficielle, si l\u2019on pense que plus tard Gardin est revenu sur la repr\u00e9sentation des raisonnements avec des propositions que l\u2019on peut aujourd\u2019hui relier aux d\u00e9veloppements du Web s\u00e9mantique et des ontologies, si importants pour la documentation et les sciences de l\u2019information. Nous soulignons ces contributions et comment elles rejoignent le processus de synth\u00e8se (analyse documentaire) et son outil (le m\u00e9talangage), pour arriver \u00e0 quelques conclusions sur ses projets de sch\u00e9matisation logiciste et les propositions de remodelage des publications scientifiques.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
