P\u00e9dauque<\/span><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Luciana Corts Mendes,\u00a0University of S\u00e3o Paulo (Brazil)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The paper follows the premise that the analysis of francophone literature on document theory and Documentation Science can provide Knowledge Organization and Library and Information Science with relevant foundations to the design of knowledge organisation systems and structures, as well as to knowledge dissemination and mediation. Thus, the paper seeks to analyse the concept of document in the literature of francophone authors as a mean to understand its conceptual developments within modernity and its transition to postmodernity. The paper explores the works of Paul Otlet, Suzanne Briet, Jean Meyriat, and Roger T. P\u00e9dauque from the perspective of critical-hermeneutics and taking into consideration the historical and sociocultural contexts the concepts were developed within. After considering each author&rsquo;s conception of the notion of document, the paper discusses in which manner the modern and the postmodern frameworks influenced the concept of document, and highlights how these frameworks influenced non-francophone nations to turn their attention to document theory and Documentation Science.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>R\u00e9sum\u00e9<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L&rsquo;article part de la pr\u00e9misse selon laquelle l&rsquo;analyse de la litt\u00e9rature francophone sur la th\u00e9orie du document et de la Documentation peut fournir des fondements pertinents pour le modelage de syst\u00e8mes et structures d&rsquo;organisation des connaissances ainsi que leur diffusion et m\u00e9diation. L&rsquo;article cherche, donc, a analyser le concept de document dans la litt\u00e9rature francophone comme moyen pour comprendre son d\u00e9veloppement conceptuel dans la modernit\u00e9 et sa transition vers la postmodernit\u00e9. L&rsquo;article examinera les oeuvres de Paul Otlet, Suzanne Briet, Jean Meyriat et Roger P\u00e9dauque \u00e0 partir d&rsquo;un point de vue herm\u00e9neutique-critique et en tenant compte des contextes historiques et socio-culturels dans lesquels les concepts furent d\u00e9velopp\u00e9s.
